Obtaining this is not difficult-Simple people have. The Creator will help.
Obtaining great joy and happiness is not as difficult as many think. Brilliance is not a perquisite-some very simple people have acquired it. But it does require an open mind, effort and trust in a higher power. The assistance of this power, the Creator, which help He wants to give, is necessary. The members of AA have learned this.
This assistance from our Creator mostly comes through your conscience and possessing and being inspired by His spirit-The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. The more these spirits touch you, inspire you, the greater your peace, happiness and self-esteem.
You can realize a wonderful relationship with the Holy Spirit by living The Two Great Commandments. These are: Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and strength and Love your neighbor as you love yourself. The more you live these commandments, the more His spirit can rest with you.
Living The Two Great Commandments may seem too much to accomplish. However, all the Lord requires is that you want to change and are willing to act. Then our Creator will help you and you will start to feel His peaceful spirit.
Some of the specific changes needed so that you move toward living The Two Great Commandments, are:
- Live The Ten Commandments
- Forgive others
- Read the scriptures, ponder and pray
- Be grateful for beauty, recognize and be thankful for the help the Lord has given, even for trails and tribulations which have helped you learn, understand and grow
- Be willing to be instructed and corrected
- Be generous and love all people
- Live morally, including practicing sex only in a legal marriage of a husband and a wife.
Again, this all may seem too much. But the Lord does not require perfection, only that you want to change and work to do such. When you are prayerful, the Lord will help. He knows that you can’t do it alone-He wants to assist. As you proceed, you will feel the influence of The Holy Spirit-a spirit of peace, love and inspiration. As you continue, you will feel it more and more. You will think well of yourself which means that you can now love your neighbor-the second Great Commandment. You are beginning to experience love and joy.
For help on this wonderful trip, see your local Latter Day Saint missionaries. They can show you how to obtain a great infusion of the Holy Spirit for help on your journey, to bring you love, peace, inspiration and happiness. The Lord has said: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you (John 14: 27).
